Living in the Moment

All good things come to those who wait.

I really hate that saying sometimes. Mostly because it is not the answer I want to hear when I am desperately wanting something to hurry up and happen in life. So many instances occur where the only answer is to just be PATIENT.

The biggest example of waiting stems from my passion for pregnancy and motherhood. It is a beautiful thing. I even went to school to be an RN so I could work in the Obstetrics unit and take care of these women and babies for a career. I love it that much.

My biggest dream in life was to be a mother. I wanted it so bad.  I went into marriage knowing this dream may be difficult to achieve or may not happen at all.  I was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS which are two conditions that make it difficult to conceive. I was devastated. Waiting on your dream to be a mother or any dream you may have is a very difficult task.

After much prayer and forced patience, we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. She was truly “worth the wait” as they say. Looking back on those difficult months behind us as we longed to hold a baby in our arms, we were finally in the moment we had desired to be in. We were complete.

There are always going to be things and situations we waiting on in life. Have you ever said to yourself,  “I will be happy when”? I will be happy when I get out of school? I will be happy when I get married, have a child, get a job, or make more money?  These are all seasons of life and we rush into them making it difficult to truly enjoy the moment we are in because we want the next big thing to happen for us.

Your life will never be the same as it is right now in this moment. You will be older, your parents will be older, or your kids will be older. Whatever your situation, it is going to be different. Where you are right now in your life is a very special place and we can never get the moments of NOW back again. It may not be perfect and there may be a dream of yours in the close distance you are aspiring to be living, but what if we focused on the moment and our current season of life.

If you are constantly worrying about what is to come, you will miss out on the wonderful moments that are happening around you now.

I know many of you out there have a dream you are waiting on right now. For many of you that may be wanting to RV full time. I am very familiar with the wait of an adventurous heart wanting to hit the road and the time has not yet come.  I know it seems far away and even impossible at times, but don’t lose faith.

Enjoy life where you are and doors will open at the right time. Until then, enjoy your house, enjoy your family, enjoy your friends, and enjoy all the little moments that make huge memories.

Now here we are a few years later and we are back in the same situation of longing and waiting for a baby. The wait is heavy on our hearts, but we have made a decision to be happy in the moment we are in. We are focusing on the life we have now and enjoying where we are. We are spending as much precious time as we can with our daughter and not letting our future desires steal our present joy.

So whatever it is that you are waiting on, try and enjoy the moment and the wonderful ride called life. Life is precious, time is precious, and the moments you are living right now are a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Take time to savor it and as my mom always says, “Don’t wish your life away”.
