The person who started the phrase “Times flies when you’re having fun” must have been a RVer. That statement has never been so true in our lives. 2016 was our first FULL year of RV living and travel. Looking back, it is amazing how fast this year has passed us by. But for the first time, I do not feel sad that another year is in the books.
Usually as the ball drops on a new year, I am conflicted with emotions of excitement and sadness. Sadness comes to the surface, because I begin to feel precious time slip away. I begin to question what I am doing with my time and life and I feel the pressure of being another year older as the calendar flips yet again.
Although this year, my mindset changed. As we rang in the New Year, I looked back on 2016 with peace and happiness. We had a year full of adventure and amazing quality family time. I didn’t feel like any time had been wasted, but only embraced with open arms. As we look to the future of 2017, we are excited. Excited to be living our dream. Excited to explore more of our beautiful country as a family. Excited for new challenges, endeavors, and meeting new people.
This lifestyle has taught us to enjoy the memories of the past, look forward to the future, but most of all truly enjoy the moment of the present.
In just a year we camped in 13 new states (Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Missouri, Colorado, & New Mexico), ticked our tastebuds with some amazing food, discovered our love for hiking, witnesses breathtaking views, and grew closer than ever as a family. It has been an incredible year and even with the ups and downs, we wouldn’t change a thing.
My fear of change and time slipping away has been consoled by the adventure in our journey. I know with all my heart we are living life to the fullest, living with no regrets, and appreciating every breath we take.
